Bronco Day '23
Bronco Day is Boise State’s campus-wide open house and the largest undergraduate recruitment event of the year. This workshop was designed to immerse students and parents in the graphic design program. They created and customized their own tote bag with heat press vinyl stickers.

PROCESS
My process started with a wide range of ideas, from simple and straightforward to more abstract concepts. I explored many different directions, refining and adjusting along the way with multiple renditions and feedback sessions. It was a process of trial and error, gradually narrowing in on the final design. Ironically, the design I ended up going with was one of the very first ideas I had—it just took some time to evolve into the right fit.
INSPIRATION
I found inspiration in the art building itself, realizing that it didn’t reflect the diversity of artists who passed through its doors. This lack of individuality in the building led me to explore a more abstract style for the design. While working through the process, I was introduced to an artist whose work influenced the final piece—not by replicating their style, but by embracing the way they composed elements together. This abstract approach helped me blend everything together, reflecting the uniqueness of each artist and showing how every individual brings their own perspective, even if it’s not always immediately visible.
FINAL DESIGN
The final design is a conceptual piece that represents the Art, Design, and Visual Studies department at Boise State University. It carries significant meaning for the graphic design department through its thoughtful typography, while also reflecting the diversity of the other departments through the variety in letter forms and customizations. The heat transfer vinyl "stickers" we created add an extra layer of personalization, emphasizing the creative flexibility and collaboration that define the department.
